Determining whether or not you need glasses is only a portion of the eye examination. Our doctors check the health of your eyes to ensure that your eyes are functioning properly. This includes checking the pressure of your eyes for glaucoma, and may involve dilating your pupils to better evaluate your internal eye health.
You may ask, "What should I bring to my eye examination?" Usually there is a copay for the eye exam, so you should be prepared to take care of that at your visit. Also bring a copy of your most current glasses and/or contact lens prescription. You can also bring your current pair of eyeglasses - even if they are only for reading. If you wear contact lenses, you might consider bringing a box of your contacts so the doctor knows exactly what your contact lens prescription is and what brand and size of contact lenses you are wearing. If you are new to our clinic, it would also be helpful to have your vision records faxed to our clinic before your scheduled appointment. |
CONTACT LENS EXAMINATIONS
Whether or not you wear contact lenses, you may be surprised to learn that the contact lens examination is not the same thing as an eye examination. In fact, most contact lens prescriptions are completely different than the eyeglasses prescription. Because of this, the doctor must take extra measurements, extra tests, and extra time to fit a person for contact lenses. The extra testing means that there is an extra cost for the contact lens examination. Most medical insurance companies do not cover the cost for the extra contact lens exam, however many vision insurance plans provide some kind of coverage for the extra examination. |

Frames ~ If you are looking for a pair of new eyeglasses, we would love to help you! We have hundreds of name brand frames to choose from in all different shapes, sizes and colors. Our experienced opticians will help you find the right frame shape to fit your face, the right material for your vision needs, profession, and activities, the right style for your prescription, and the right color for your features. If you don't see what you are looking for, our opticians are never too busy to contact our frame manufacturers to find the perfect frame for you. Our prices are competitive and we do have various discounts available if you do not have vision insurance. Lenses ~ We sell only premium products in our lens materials, styles, and add-ons. We recommend that all of our patients have the anti-glare treatment included with their lenses. This treatment not only cuts down on glare from night driving and computer work, but also includes scratch protection and a warranty on your lenses. Anti-glare lenses have improved significantly in the last few years, as well as the photochromic lenses that change color when you walk outside. Manufacturers are always striving to make their lenses and treatments ever better. Ask our opticians for more information on other premium treatments available for your needs. When shopping for new glasses remember: You would not buy a cheap pair of shoes to wear all day, every day and expect them to last you for the next 5 years! Don't try to buy a cheap pair of glasses to wear all day, every day for the next 5 years - you will be disappointed! |

Glaucoma is a serious eye problem that needs to be monitored closely. If you or any of your family members have glaucoma, you need to have annual eye examinations to check the health of your eyes. Besides having regular check-ups, it is recommended that you have further screenings to ensure that your vision has not changed. A couple of these screenings include taking a Visual Field test and/or a GDX screening. These both test different functions of the eye and alert the doctor to any changes or irregularity in your vision. Both the Visual Field and the GDX screening are available at our clinic. |

While we do not have a surgery center on-site to perform LASIK surgery, cataract surgery or other surgical eye procedures, we DO work with several surgery centers to ensure that your vision is properly monitored and cared for before and after eye surgery. |
